Public bathroom

When you gots to go, you gots to go. Unfortunately, the five boroughs aren’t very conducive to allowing one to seek relief when nature calls; public toilets are scarce and, let’s face it, they’re public toilets.

When the economy was in better shape, Starbucks was the rest stop for many people who were “under pressure”, but with the coffee houses scaling back, where does one turn? To the BlackBerry or iPhone, of course.

After nearly a decade of providing free, clean public restrooms everywhere from state fairs to Times Square, Charmin (that’s right the toilet paper folk) has unleashed a social-networking utility designed to aid you in your hunt: SitOrSquat.

Based on the SitOrSquat wiki that launched in December with the goal of turning the digital masses into a mobile army of restroom reviewers, the new mobile application helps you locate public restrooms and provides star ratings based on their cleanliness and other amenities. As of February, SitOrSquat had logged more than 52,000 toilets in 10 countries, so it will even help your ass (literally) when you go abroad.

So what are you waiting for? Give SitOrSquat a download. It’ll come in very handy the next time you’re out binging on cheap drinks.
