I’ll make this short, sweet, and to the point. I’ve spent the past two Saturdays rummaging through the Housing Works stores looking for Christmas presents, and let me tell you, they have not disappointed. So if you’re lost on what to buy someone for the holidays, hop on over to one of their stores for some quick inspiration. It’s a rare and beautiful day when you can find a Borrelli tie for $10, a set of bourbon glasses for $4, and a brand spankin’ new Diane von Furstenberg dress for $65 all in the same store.
And their mission? Surprisingly it’s not focused on the retail. Housing Works is the largest community-based AIDS service organization in the U.S. So besides having some of the best thrift store prices I’ve ever seen in Manhattan, their profits go towards housing, healthcare, meals, job training, drug treatment, HIV prevention education, and social support for AIDS patients and their families. Shopping and a good cause? Sign me up!
Check below for store locations and check out their website for one-of-a-kind items and auctions on some pretty nice swag.
