Tree in the park

Brooklyn’s Prospect Park is one of the best things the borough has to offer, next to Coney Island. The 585-acre park was designed by the same landscape architects as Central Park, making it an urban oasis far from any tourists or Gossip Girl wannabes.Located in the heart of Brooklyn, Prospect Park blew me away when I first went to visit. I sat under a tree with a book in my hand and enjoyed my view of the Boathouse that sits on Prospect Park Lake. Before heading to the Boathouse, I marveled at the Carousel and how many families were taking advantage of the park’s open space.

There is certainly nothing like Central Park, but with even with a space so large, chances are you’ll get lost in the crowds while you try to find an empty spot on where to sit. Prospect Park may not be as easy to navigate, but the smaller space puts you at ease when it comes to exploring the area, and if you would rather relax, there are always plenty of open spaces to claim.

From the historic homes to the beautiful Botanic Gardens, Prospect Park is well worth traveling over the bridge for. Besides hiking on the many beaten paths and taking advantage of the electric boat tours, Prospect Park is booming with things to do all summer long.  Take a break from beating the crowds in Central Park and check out some of the events that are happening in Prospect Park in August. There’s certainly no better way to end your summer.
