Coney Island Soul: Gladys Knight and The O’Jays Grace Asser Levy Park
July 9, 2009 by Jeffrey L. Wilson

“Music just ain’t what it used to be!” If you can relate to the sentiment, if you agree that today’s Top 40 is filled with the aural equivalent of sludge, Coney Island is the place to be Thursday, July 23rd at 7:30PM as Gladys Knight and The O’Jays plan to bring a dose of cool soul on a warm summer evening to Asser Levy Park.
The concert is part of the 31st Annual Seaside Concert Series, which is hosted by the #1 Brooklyn booster, Marty Markowitz. In fact, it’s the same series that’s bringing Debra Harry, Pat Benetar, and The Donnas to the same venue on August 13th.
If you’re eager to groove to “Midnight Train” or “Backstabbers”, we recommend getting to Asser Levy Park early and with a lawn chair as the place fills up quickly. Bring a friend!
