Redneck Bank

Looking to make banking a little more “funner”?  Thanks to Redneck Bank, that’s now a possibility.  We found out about this new addition to the finance world from Tricia over at Blogging Away Debt.  And even though it’s name sounds more like a harebrained scheme than a legitimate business, that’s exactly what they are.

Featuring a talking horse complete with “neighs” and cheesy puns, Redneck Bank — a division of Wichitas Bank — is a self-proclaimed “country bank”.  Despite the silliness of the website, Redneck is a legitimate banking source and is insured by the FDIC. And by offering a rewards checking account APY of 5.25%, it might also possibly be the highest interest rate available right now.

So, head on over to the website, sign up for a free checking account, and wait for your novelty red debit card featuring their trademark horse and the slogan “Where bankin’s funner!”

From the Redneck Bank website:

You’ll find bankin is “funner” when you can open an account online offering high interest, no minimum balance, no monthly maintenance fee and many other free services!  When you can take care of your business from any internet connection anywhere in the world any time of day or night, it’s time to shout!

Editor’s Note: The rewards checking account does have a few stipulations:  You have to receive statements electronically and you must also make 10 transactions per month with your VISA checkcard.
