@finance advice - I agree that kids need to be taught good finance routines, but you have to agree that having all the "tiny lettering" at the bottom with the detailed info is pretty sheisty. Consumer education is definitely part of the equation, but credit companies need to be stopped when it comes to their shady practices.

Credit card advertisements can be alluring to people, especially young people as it plays out to say that you can spend money and have ‘0%’ interest in huge letter to say that they won’t charge you, everybody forgets the tiny writing at the bottom that is more important information that people need to know. Adults from the age of 18 need to be taught good finance routines and that you should not regularly rely on credit cards.

Ditto. I screwed myself in college and directly afterwards, and then spent the next four or so years paying it all back.

This story sounds like me! Same thing happened. Except I was in college without a job. Terrible. The government should definitely put restrictions on CCs. At 18, all I saw was free money - and none of the consequences. Lesson learned, for sure, but not without damaging my credit rating before I really even had one.
