If you’re not paying attention, Mother’s Day can sneak up on you before you’ve even thought about picking up a gift. So if you’re one of those scrambling at the last minute for a $4 Duane Reade card to mail out today, check out these 10 budget gift ideas instead — all under $10.

1.  Me! Bath

These homemade bath salts are in the form of ice cream scoops with oddly enticing flavors, like Cafe con Leche.  Scoops are $8.50, but their “Scoop of the Week” is always discounted to $7.

2.  Corkologie Candle Holders

Praised as a “truly economical green product”, these candle holders are tres cute and are only $5 a pop.  They also have a 3 tea light candle holder for $10.  And if you want to up the ante (and the sale price), these awesome cork wine racks should be given some thought ($34.99)

3. “Cooking with Trader Joe’s” pocket cookbook

This cookbook is a fun idea for the fledgling chef mom.  And even better, it’s pocket sized so you can whip it out in store while you’re waiting to check out in those three hour lines. Although it’s listed on the website at $13.95, you can find it on Amazon for $10.

4.  Glossy Bound Family Photo Book from Fast Pencil

Dust up those old photos, scan them into your hard drive and upload them to the Fast Pencil site to get a ridiculously cheap glossy 40 page full-color photo book – all for around $10. The online software is easy to use, and the books are totally customizable.

Discount note:  For a quick 20% off, put in the code “Mother10″ during checkout through May 15.

5.  Hoops & Yoyo Change Purse

It’s like those Ugly Dolls, but with a bit more utility.  Hand crocheted with a metal attach clip, they’re cute, bright, and most importantly, easy to find in a behemoth purse. They retail at $7.95.

6.  Intuition iPhone App

This one’s better than cheap – it’s free.  A personal assistant iPhone app that helps manage the day-to-day like organizing to-do’s by location, category or due date and matching up mobile coupons with list items to purchase.

7. Herbal Shea Butter Bath Soaps

Angelic Soaps and Gifts has a pretty sweet line of edible-looking soaps for $4.75.  Our favorites are the Green Tea and Tuscan Herb soaps.

8.  ecosystem Author Mini Notebook

A mini notebook may not seem like the most thoughtful gift, but as someone who is pro-paper when it comes to day planning and writing things down, I can vouch that these things are da bomb.  They’re small enough to fit in a purse, large enough to be able to legibly write down appointments, and the covers are so soft, you’ll be petting it all day.  Plus, once you’re done, you can send it back to them to be recycled as their entire line is made out of recycled paper.  They retail at $9.95.

9.  Brooklyn Botanic Centennial Seeds

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has a cute set that would be a fantastic gift for anyone – include mothers.  In celebration of BBG’s Centennial, you can get packages of their Centennial Seeds for $3.95.  You can choose from two themes: the Herb Garden Mix or the Children’s Garden Mix.  Throw in a helpful “Potted Garden” handbook for $3.99 and you’ve got a cute little gardening set.

10.  Talenti Argentine Dulce de Leche Gelato

Instead of shipping out cookies, cupcakes or other baked goods, consider the weather and send somethng a little more appropriate.  No one hates gelato – especially when its dulce de leche flavored.  One pint will run you $7.99.
