Furnish Green: Cool Items, Good Prices, Great Cause

Furnish Green is a cool green furniture venture located in midtown (1261 Broadway between 31st and 32nd). A furniture showroom by day and partner dance studio by night, they offer vintage furniture at some of the best prices you’ll find in Manhattan. But along with their superior prices, they also have a conscious: 50% of the sale of donated items goes towards the Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre program.
And while I loves me a good deal, the real kicker here is their sale prices. Take, for instance, the mid-century coffee table I snagged for $15, marked down from $45. This thing is a beast too — taking up a good chunk of my living room and sturdy as all get out.

Unlike other super pricey vintage furniture stores in the city, these guys sometimes take offers on their pieces. The salespeople are incredibly helpful and nice and don’t get that offended look when you make a lowball offer, instead meeting you halfway on the price.
Another huge selling point is that they allow customers to put down a deposit to hold pieces that you want. Vintage layaway? How often does that happen?
.

After having such a fantastic experience with the table, I went back for seconds and found this beauty — an art deco dresser with deep drawers and original tiny little wheels on the bottom, for easy transport. And not only did they have it delivered to Brooklyn for me (for way cheap), but they also knocked $60 off the sticker price. I should mention that I spent a little more on this piece, $300 to be exact. But I was so smitten with the starburst design embedded in the wood, that I pinged it as an investment (art, people) and called it a day.
They also have a deal listed on their website that states if you spend $100 at Furnish Green, you’ll receive a $50 gift certificate for their studio, NY Partner Dance. I wasn’t given this certificate when I purchased my buys, but that could be chalked up to forgetfulness. I did stop by right in the middle of a dance lesson, and they were kind enough to let me browse through the showroom, running off to my aid when I pointed at something.
Final vote? Win! This place has really unique pieces, a great story policy, friendly and helpful salespeople and excellent prices. You can check them out here, and note that they update the website with new finds like clockwork every Wednesday afternoon.
